Geminos is an infinitely adjustable dual-screen desktop monitor with a unique, patented adjustment mechanism. The Geminos displays are stacked vertically, so the display area is closer to a square aspect ratio, the required desktop area is minimized, and both monitors can be used in a highly ergonomic manner, whether sitting or standing. Geminos includes a full HD webcam for video conferencing, powerful speakers, and a USB hub that’s capable of USB-C pass-through charging for laptops.
Manta was responsible for the industrial design, mechanical engineering, usability engineering, and manufacturing transfer of the Geminos monitor.
Proprietary Adjustment Mechanism
The dual display desktop monitor required the development of a proprietary adjustment mechanism that enables the user to easily and intuitively adjust the two vertically stacked displays in tandem to an infinite range of positions and allow it to fold flat for shipping and storage.
Manta conducted usability and human factors research to identify key user and functional display requirements. The team conceptualized and tested mechanisms, and developed a proprietary, counterbalanced, friction-based display adjustment mechanism that was granted a utility patent by the USPTO. Ultra-Thin Bezel and Hinge Design
The design of the dual display desktop monitor required minimizing the geometry of the display bezels and hinges in order to achieve the target optimized image visibility and a high-end design aesthetic for the product.
Manta performed industrial design concept generation, structural analysis, and moldability assessments, and developed cable routing, final assembly, and finishing strategies, to achieve ultra-thin bezel and hinge designs that achieved the aesthetic, functional and reliability requirements for the product.
