Flex™ Robotic System is a surgical platform for minimally invasive surgical procedures using highly maneuverable two-handed robotic assisted tools that provide tactile feedback. This platform enables non-linear access to difficult-to-reach anatomical locations, improves visualization of the procedure site, and results in a faster, less painful recovery for patients.
Because the Flex Robotics System was the first of its kind flexible surgical snake robot, we worked closely with leading surgeons to understand the user requirements and use scenarios. We then leveraged this information to develop the optimal system architecture, user interface, and individual component elements.
We helped Medrobotics develop many aspects of the surgical system, including the control console, the reusable base module containing the drive motors and electronics, the single use multi-jointed snake robot, surgical table mounting components, and custom surgical tools. The System received FDA and European Union approval, as well as a Medical Design Excellence Gold Award.
